We
exchanged love through
inlands
We had the pain to wait for their reply
and the pleasure to see hand-written replies.
We fought with them through letters,
shared our dreams on thin paper;
and waited for weeks for their response.
We played catch-me-if you-can in the temple pond
till our body gone pale and eyes turned red
We fished with thin bathing towel in pale
yellow water
and put them in home well to see them grow
up.
We patiently plucked ThumbaPoo for OnaPookkalam
despite pouring rain and quarterly exam heat
Played football made off worn clothes in thin passages
and played cricket with shaped coconut stick.
We stoned ripe mangos and shared among pals.
We had single-screen theaters with 'houseful' boards
We heard movie announcement from a moving car;
fought with our friends to get hands on flying
notices
We also had Theatres specially for “bits-n-pieces”.
